Looking for the complete Virginia Tech game day experience?

Want to join a tailgate with hundreds of other Hokie families?

Are you ready to experience a Hokie football game in Lane Stadium, jump to Enter Sandman, and do the Hokie Pokey with 66,000 of your closest friends?

Family and Alumni Relations and the Division of Student Affairs invite you to our first Hokie Family Game Day and Tailgate when the Virginia Tech football team takes on the Old Dominion University Monarchs on Saturday, September 23. The White Effect and Military Appreciation game will also honor the 2017 Hall of Fame Inductees at halftime.

Tailgate tickets and game tickets will be sold beginning at 12 noon EST on Tuesday, August 8. Limited quantities will be available and purchases are on a first-come, first-served basis. All ticket purchases are non-refundable. Game and tailgate are both rain or shine events.

The Ultimate Hokie Family Tailgate is $25 per person. Tailgate will begin 3 hours prior to kickoff and will end 30 minutes prior to kickoff (game time will be announced soon!). Tailgate ticket includes: a traditional tailgate meal with cash bar held on Dietrick Lawn (a detailed menu will be provided closer to game day), music, tailgating games, special guest appearances, and giveaways--including a stadium-approved clear tote bag for all of your game day needs!

HOKIE VILLAGE: Opening 3.5 hours prior to kickoff, Hokie Village is a family-friendly area on the turf field across from Lane Stadium on Beamer Way. It features inflatables, food trucks, Skipper, music, and more! Hokie Village is also home to the Kubota Kickoff Show, a live pre-game radio show featuring Andrew Allegretta, Jon Laaser, and Mike Burnop. Admission is free.

THE HOKIE WALK: A time-honored game day tradition, the Hokie Walk is your perfect chance to welcome the team as they arrive at Lane Stadium. Taking place on Beamer Way, just outside of Hokie Village, the Hokie Walk typically occurs 2.5 hours prior to kick-off. For updates on the team's arrival time, be sure to follow @VT_Football on Twitter.

ARRIVE EARLY: To capture the full Lane Stadium experience, be sure to arrive and enter the stadium early to avoid long lines at the gates -- you don't want to miss Enter Sandman! The pre-game show featuring the Highty Tighties typically begins 25 minutes prior to kickoff and concludes with the national anthem and team entrance sequence (Enter Sandman).

WHITE EFFECT: Don't be the only fan not wearing the official White Effect T-shirt! Order your shirt in advance or purchase it in Blacksburg at any University Bookstore or Hokie Shop inside Lane Stadium. Sales from the White Effect/Military Appreciation shirst benefit the Fisher House Foundation, best known for its network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving medical treatment.

MILITARY APPRECIATION and HALL OF FAME DAY: Throughout the Hokies' match-up with ODU, we'll be honoring those who have served and those who continue to serve in the military. The day will also serve as Hall of Fame Day as the 2017 Hall of Fame Class, inducted the night before, will be honored at halftime. This year's honorees include Tim Buheller (Baseball), Zabian Dowdell (Men's Basketball), Michael Vick (Football), Megan Evans (Softball), and Ben Taylor (Football).

CLEAR BAG POLICY: A clear bag policy was implemented at Lane Stadium in 2016 and will continue in 2017. Details on the policy and FAQ are available online. Similar information is also available in the Fan Guide (see below).
